Berkeley

Berkeley – Pilot Boat

Breaking into a new market, the Berkeley is the first pilot boat to be built in Geraldton and is expected to change the face of pilot boat construction in the Mid West of Western Australia. Proven in sea trials to be able to maintain 32 knots and an impressively smooth transit in even rough seas, Berkeley has the speed in open water, high manoeuvrability, and extreme stable required in order to facilitate a luxury transit and easy pilot transfer from ship-to-ship. Taking inspiration from decades of experience in the fishing boat industry, Berkeley has been uniquely designed as a monohull with two keels, creating a skeg – protecting the propellers and providing the rudders top and bottom bearings, an innovation in pilot boat design. A midship bilge tank that lies beneath the deck can be readily filled to provide additional stability when required. An additional feature is that the wheelhouse is easily removable to enable complete access to the engines as necessary.
