Chalmers: Patrol Vessel
Built for the Western Australian Department of Fisheries in 2006, the 12.2 metre Police patrol vessel Chalmers plays an integral role in patrolling the Houtman Abrolhos Islands and meeting the demands of the lucrative Western Australian fishing industry.
Unlike all of the bigger patrol vessels before her who are driven by conventional shafts and fixed pitch propellers, Chalmers uses twin Caterpillar powerplants and Hamilton water jets to propel her to a top speed in excess of 35 knots.
