16m Suncraft: Patrol Vessel
The 16m aluminium Suncraft was a purpose-built vessel launched in 2008 for the Nigerian Police. Capable of carrying 4 crew and 16 special personnel, a total of 15 of these vessels were built and delivered by Strategic Marine. To allow these vessels to have a shallow draft and achieve high speeds, surface piercing propellers have been used and are driven by twin MAN marine diesels. Not only can these vessels enter shallow ports and draw less than a metre of water, but they can also reach top speeds in excess of 30 knots for the interception of suspect vessels.
