8m Commando Operational Watercraft – Outboard Motor: Patrol Vessel
As an extension to the earlier Commando Operational Watercraft. A single variant with increased deck space and outboard motor propulsion was designed and constructed.
This variant was specifically designed to carry 2 ATV vehicles for use in clearance work at the Australian Defence department’s Shoalwater Bay training area in north Queensland.
An Aft console has seating for two crew, and a further 4 removable seats for four combat-equipped troops can be arranged throughout the vessel. Portable ramps enable the loading and unloading of up to two small ATV vehicles on beaches or other undeveloped landing sites. Two Yamaha 115hp outboards provide the propulsion and produce a top speed in excess of 30 knots.
